SJU Lacrosse

The Saint John’s University lacrosse program has come a long way since its founding in 1986 by Peter Farrell and a few of his friends in the basement of St. Thomas Aquinas Hall.

Since that time, the team has grown into one of the most dominant programs in the Upper Midwest and the nation.

SJU finished as Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference Division II champions in 2004, ’05, ’07, ’08, ’11 and ’14. The program has qualified for the final four of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division II national tournament in 2006, ’07, ’09, ’13, ’14, ’15, ’16, ’17, ’18 and ’19.

Three times the team has come home as national runners-up - in 2006, ’07 and ’14.

The team, led by head coach Adam Benny, typically plays around five competitions in the fall and 15 in the spring. Practices and games are held in the Skalicky Dome on campus, as well as in Clemens Stadium.

The program’s focus is on providing an elite collegiate lacrosse experience unique to the Midwest while providing an atmosphere of learning, support and growth for all team members.

The club is a non-varsity athletic program affiliated with and partially funded by the SJU Student Senate.
