COLLEGEVILLE, Minn – St. Johns Lacrosse is excited to announce the release of the 2023 Game Schedule. This year’s schedule includes five home games and eight away/neutral site games. St. Johns hopes for a return trip to Chicago for the UMLC Tournament and earn an invite to Round Rock, Texas for the MCLA National Tournament
The Johnnies start their season at home in the Skalicky Dome on Feb. 10 at home vs. Northland University (NCAA D3). They will host Northwestern (NCAA D3) a week later on Feb.18. Finally, to close out the February matchups, they will host Iowa State in Collegeville, MN on Feb. 25.
In March, the Johnnies get right into it, taking their fight to Logan, Utah to play three games. Starting on Mar. 4 they play Northwest Nazarene in Utah. They then will play Colorado School of Mines on Mar. 5. After a day of rest, they close out their trip to Utah with a match-up against Utah State on Mar. 7.
“We are excited to get to Logan (Utah) and challenge ourselves vs three great teams.” said Head Coach Adam Benney “Utah State is becoming a fun cross-country rival for us, and expect a tight game.”
After a long break of games, the Johnnies will close out the month of March by playing the University of Minn-Duluth at St. Michael Albertville High School Dome on Mar. 25.
Not much after the Johnnies last match-up, they will host the University of Minnesota in Collegeville on Apr. 2nd. After a two-week game break the Johnnies will take their second road trip of the year and head down to Ames, Iowa where they will start their trip with a match-up against Missouri St. on Apr. 15. Their second match-up, the end of the road trip, will be played against Drury University on Apr. 16.
After a quick turnaround, the Johnnies will come back to Minnesota and play NDSU at Moorhead High School on Apr. 19. To close out the regular season the Johnnies will have their final two home games of the season, the first match-up against St. Thomas on Apr. 21 and the second match-up against Dayton on Apr. 23.
“There is nothing like a Johnnie/Tommie game and we are proud that the lacrosse team can keep the tradition going [With UST moving to NCAA D1]” Said Coach Benney “With it being a Friday night in Collegeville we know the fans will be coming out.”
The Johnnies will then start their Postseason run and head down to Chicago for the UMCL Tournament. If the Johnnies Win or get second place in the UMLC Tournament they will then earn a spot down in Texas for the MCLA National Tournament
